New beginnings
It is a season of shedding skins for many of us it seems, and my life is no different.
Much has changed since I first launched my previous website in 2011. Back then I was a busy mother juggling the dual demands and the divided heart that is namely, raising babies and art.
Almost 15 years on and many aspects of my life have now changed. My five children have grown and so has my arts practice. My dedication and commitment to both paying dividends.
If you have been on this journey with me I want to express my gratitude and thanks. It has not been an easy path, but it is incredibly rewarding and it is my own.
So, welcome to my new website, I hope you will take a tour. It is both an overview of my work to date and a preview of my future direction. With projects and exhibitions booked both in Australia and overseas in the next few years I have never needed more focus and drive than I do now.
I aim to bring a number of unique offerings every calendar year and they always sell out quickly, I appreciate this as it allows me to continue focusing on bigger projects and ideas.
If you have collected my art to date please know how much that is appreciated as it is this that allows me to continue to invest in sharing my practice with an increasingly broad audience. If you have not yet, but have been meaning to, then now is a good time, as my expansion will also come with my prices continuing to rise.
On a personal note I feel my paintings are coming to me more quickly and powerfully. The concept, ideas and the why behind my work is clearer than ever and I am feeling the benefit of the 10,000 hours theory regarding excellence.
There is another theory with a number attached to it, this is Seth Godin’s one about 1000 true fans, which is that you only need this many people to believe in you, to see a dream reach it’s intended impact.
So, you are welcome to help me test this theory. If you truly enjoy my work and feel inspired to do so, please share with a fellow friend and art lover. Sharing with even one person is the most meaningful and organic way for me to continue to connect most meaningfully with more people.
I will have a range of beautiful scarves, a new book of poetry, and a reprint of my first book coming by the end of the year. I am always considering ways to add more beauty and contemplation into the world.
One thing I do know is that good and true things do take time. I am not a machine and this is essential what makes art important in the end.
Taking a moment to also express my deep appreciation to Georgie for her patience and dedication to this rebuild. She has gone well beyond the original task and I feel has cared for the job as though it was her own.
Anyhow, enough from me!
Thanks again for being here, I am back to painting ….
