In February I travelled to Delhi to experience the 2025 India Art Fair and to see first hand the Cosmic Architecture of Jantar Mantar and as many other significant sites as possible. While travelling i painted a number of small postcard style works and these inspired this current series of works on paper, I will share these in part two of this series.

The colour, movement and intensity of India was overwhelming in the best possible way and made a instant impact on me. The overall aesthetic beauty of the places I visited and the long history of Indian artistry that is embedded into so much of the day to day, combined with deep and longstanding spiritual practices was all encompassing. The cultural awareness of the sacred and the divine, the ancient geometry and the curiosity and resulting narrative about the realms of both life and death, had a huge impact on me. I felt like I understand more about my own work and desire to create as a result of this visit.

I have plans to return to India in the future to build on this experience and to strengthen my relationships there. I think there is much more to unfold for my practice here. I also have other ideas in place for creative collaborations to come.

One of the incredible people I met on my trip was Kulsum Shadab Wahab who is the Director the Hothur Foundation which supports vulnerable women in India. So I am proud to say that part of the proceeds from these upcoming artworks will be donated to this important cause.

Please stay tuned for part 2 of this post, in which I will reveal where these works and more will be available to collect.
